Nicolas was an early starter, going into perfumery at 14. It was during a trip to Grasse that he met his first mentor. Jacques Maurel gave him his chance and taught him the basics of perfume and the magic of natural essences. He then joined Takasago and worked with two master perfumers, Françoise Caron and Francis Kurkdjian, from whom he learned rigor and technique as well as the subtlety and accuracy of a brief formulation that allows the olfactory signature of a note to shine through. At 27 he became part of Fragrance Resources, creating new olfactory chapters as they arise from serendipitous encounters such as the one with Shezad.
